Helen Joyce Wackerfuss, age 88, passed away peacefully on the evening of June 16, 2025, surrounded by the voices and love of her family. She lived a long and beautiful life marked by strength, humor, loyalty, and an unshakable devotion to the people she loved.
Born on March 12, 1937, Helen was a proud lifelong Minnesota, from the Iron range in Hibbing, MN. Fierce in spirit and kind in soul, she was known for her sharp wit, warm hugs, and unforgettable laugh. Whether offering advice, cracking a well-timed joke, or making your favorite dish, Helen had a way of making everyone feel special and accepted.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother — and to each of those roles, she brought immeasurable care and resilience. Her marriage to her beloved husband of 64 years, Roger, was a partnership full of love and mutual admiration. Together, they built a life rich with tradition, laughter, and enduring family bonds.
Helen’s greatest pride was her family. Her children — Mark, Randy, Terry, and Heidi — and her grandchildren — Megan, Calvin, Chase, and Annelise — were her world. She made sure each one felt like her favorite, and they believed it. In her final days, her loved ones gathered to tell stories and surround her with the same warmth and loyalty she had shown them her whole life. She slipped away gently, having made space for every goodbye, and leaving behind a legacy of grace and grit.
A funeral service will take place at 11am on Monday, June 30th at St. John's Lutheran Church, 765 Margaret Ave, St Paul, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service.
