CHRISTIANSEN, HAZEL (LERVIK)
Age 95, of Roseville. Passed away February 6, 2021.
Hazel was born and raised in Hibbing, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Edward and Wendla (Stolpe) Lervik and one of nine siblings. She married Clifford Christiansen in 1947 and raised four children in their home in Roseville. Hazel and Cliff enjoyed traveling throughout Canada and Northern Europe and visiting many of our country’s national parks.
Hazel was a bright, fiercely independent, some would say feisty woman with a dry sense of humor. She learned to figure skate in her 50s, rode a Gold Wing Harley in her 70s, and gave Tai-Chi a try in her 90s. She created art through quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, needlepoint, hardanger, rosemaling, painting, photography, and scrapbooking. She dearly loved and was very interested in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Clifford; her son-in-law, Mark Heisterkamp; and her eight siblings.
She is survived by her sons, Paul (Bernadette), Grant (Mary), and Reed (Alison Behling) Christiansen; her daughter, Jean (Robert) Richards; her grandchildren, Phillip, Grace (David Temin), Steven, Amy, Micah Christiansen, Karin (Mitchell) Myers, and John (Breanna) Heisterkamp; her great grandchildren, Logan Myers, Lev Christiansen-Temin, and Robin Heisterkamp; a sister-in-law, Genevieve Lervik; and many nieces and nephews.
As Hazel would say, “Tack så mycket,” (Swedish for “Thanks so much”) to Hazel’s care teams at Sunrise Senior Living Community and HealthPartners Hospice.
Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with Roseville Lutheran clergy presiding.
“Borte bra, men hjemme best” (“Away is good, but home is best”)
