McGuire, Gretchen Anne, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, after working bravely to overcome cancer. She is remembered for her kindness, gentle spirit, and loving care of her family and her patients at Minneapolis Children's Heart Clinic. Gretchen is survived by her husband, Glen Carpenter, and children Liv Kathryn and Will McCauley; parents, Dennis and Kathryn McGuire; brother Matthew (Jane); sister Laura (Nick) Murphy; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, July 15 at 5:30pm, Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2055 Bohland Avenue, St. Paul. Visitation 4:00 pm, at the church, prior to mass. After selecting a donation amount, check the box labeled “Gift made as a tribute.” When selecting this option, a field will appear to enter the honoree’s name.
An acknowledgment and tax receipt for any gift will be sent from Children’s Minnesota. The team in the Foundation will know that any gifts directed to Gretchen’s memorial are for the nursing program.
Someone will provide you with a list of loved ones who made a gift in Gretchen’s memory along with address information. They will typically be sent a few weeks after the funeral service.
As donations arrive, the Foundation will earmark them for nursing and they will be transferred to the nursing program. From there, Kendra and I will work with you to put them toward the programs and services closest to Gretchen’s heart.
