Joyce, Gloria Ann
Age 93, passed away peacefully April 17 (Easter Sunday) after a long and adventurous life.
Gloria is preceded in death by her husband James E. Joyce, Sr. (2019).
Together, they raised a raucous family of seven children: Cynthia Barthi (Robert); James, Jr., (Nancy); Michael (Kathy); Monica Joyce Walker (Robert); Shannon Voytovich (Michael); Chris (Joanie); and Steven (Elisabeth). She leaves behind fourteen grandchildren: Blaire, Brendan, James III, Justin, Caitlin, Michael, Matthew, Kelly, Christian, Henry, Alex, Peter, Sophie, and Landon; three step-grandchildren: Jenelle, Allison, and Daniel; and ten great-grandchildren: Baron, Gloria, James IV, Shannon, Jack, Georgia, Mackenzie, Charlotte, Brooks, and Stella.
Gloria is also survived by brother Richard Mockler (Ruby) and sister Karen Moulton (Roger).
Born and raised in Stillwater, MN (and with relatives in Springbrook, WI), Gloria was the daughter of Richard and Alice Mockler. She graduated from Stillwater High School and maintained lifelong companionship with many of her classmates, including Pat Hooley, Mary (Hanson) Peaslee, Marilyn (McGarry) Gelhar and Mary Burris.
Prior to starting a family, Gloria worked at Twin City Federal in St. Paul, taking the streetcar to work each day. Shortly thereafter, she and Jim settled in the heart of St. Paul, turning neighbors into friends who would continue to gather into old age. The Joyces became longtime residents of West St. Paul and Mendota Heights.
Gloria’s laugh was contagious and signaled to those around that life was to be enjoyed. She and Jim traveled extensively, sharing worldwide experiences with their friends, especially Jerome and Louise Conway, and Kelly and Ruth Brookman.
