Giles Gregory Guggemos, 89, passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Gregory and Anastasia (Pilgram) Guggemos; infant sister, Nancy Jean; and brother, Bruce.
Giles is lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Joan; daughters, Heather Guggemos, Molly (Paul) Dyson, and Sarah (Larry) Chuba; grandsons, Alec, Ethan, Marcus, and Nathaniel; brothers, Dale (Lois) and Noel (Yvonne); sister, Renee (Bill) Sawyer; sister‑in‑law, Barb; and many cherished relatives and friends.
Giles graduated from Winsted Holy Trinity High School. Following high school, he joined the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1957. He continued his education, graduating from Dunwoody Institute and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. He started his own wallcovering business in 1962. In 1970, he became involved in large-scale images and eventually started another company that operated under the name Muralite. His work can be seen in 49 of the 50 states and in several countries abroad.
He championed youth Track and Field and Cross Country, directing multiple state and regional championships through AAU/TAC.
