Gerald "Jerry" DuBois Obituary

Age 82, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota and formerly of Galesburg, Illinois passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 17, 2023.

Born in in 1941, Jerry grew up in Metamora, Illinois.  Jerry served in the United States Air Force as a morse code transcriber and was stationed at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines and Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa.  Following his discharge, he used the G.I. Bill to attend and graduate from Illinois State University.  While at Illinois State, Jerry met his sweetheart Patricia, and they married in 1969.  He later earned a master’s degree in social work  at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This provided the foundation for a career in healthcare management that spanned nearly 50 years, the bulk of which was spent at RFMS and LTC Support Services in Galesburg, Illinois.  He spent a significant amount of his time volunteering and serving on multiple boards, including Achievement Unlimited.

An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, Jerry loyally followed the team and attended many games, including Spring Training games, and the World Series.  He enjoyed reading, fishing, golfing, and running, completing the Twin Cities Marathon in 1993.  Most recently, he valued time away at the family cabin in Western Wisconsin.

He  cherished time with loved ones, and was particularly dedicated to his family, regularly organizing reunions and gatherings.  His commitment to his wife and children was always apparent, but his pride and joy was his four granddaughters.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bena; sister, Arlene (Arthur) Schierer; brother, Paul (Pam); and brother-in-law, Dave Herbstrith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia; son, Christian (Alexis); daughter, Michelle (Travis) Bogener; sisters, Donna Herbstrith and Mary Kay (Jim) Helwig; granddaughters,  Eleanor, Audrey, Charlotte, and Margaret DuBois, and other loved nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
