Erin M. Suek
Age 40 of Fridley, formerly of St. Paul, passed away January 31 following a sudden, massive brain stem bleed.
She is preceded in death by sister, Amy; grandparents Francis Shatek, Elsie and Syl Suek; and aunt Mary Suek. Erin will be deeply missed by her parents, Nancy Shatek-Suek and Don Suek; boyfriend, Naji Ghandour and his parents Jill and Jamal; brother-in-law, Jon Wivell; Gma Bonnie Shatek and her many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Erin was born July 12,1984 in Minneapolis. She grew up in Shoreview and St. Paul and attended Highland Catholic School and Cretin Derham Hall. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a B.A. in communication. While growing up, Erin enjoyed participating in a variety of activities-dance, basketball, cheerleading, wrestling manager, theatre and soccer. She was a goalie for a number of soccer traveling teams. Erin made friends wherever she went and maintained many friendships over the years. She treasured time with others especially over a good meal or a game. She was quite the foodie and was a valuable resource of information about restaurants. Member of the Supper Club, The Finer Things Club and the “Book” Club. Erin had a wonderful sense of humor. Very intelligent and witty! We marveled at her creativity including a stint of hosting pub trivia. She was employed at Medtronic for the last 12 years in a variety of roles, most recently as a member of their Cardiac Ablation Solutions regulatory team. Prior to Medtronic, she worked several years at Buffalo Wild Wings in WI and MN. She could always see the potential in an employee and was encouraging of their growth. Most of all, Erin had a very generous heart. She was kind and thoughtful of others, especially those going through a difficult time. She was a bright light in the world. She loved her family and friends greatly. She would do anything for you if you were in need. In that spirit, she was an organ donor.
We want to thank the Mercy Hospital ICU doctors, nurses and ancillary staff for their compassionate care of Erin. We are grateful for her high school and college friends who supported us in the hospital especially until Erin passed. We also are grateful for the outpouring of prayers and support from our families, friends and community.
In celebrating Erin's life there will be a visitation is 3:30-7:30pm Friday, February 7 at O’Halloran & Murphy, 575 Snelling Ave S, St. Paul. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30am Saturday, February 8 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1938 Stanford Ave, St. Paul. We hope to livestream at https://nativitystpaul.org/online-liturgies. Interment is at Resurrection Cemetery. Erin was a bright light in the world and made lifelong friends wherever she went. She will be remembered for her incredible generosity, kindness, sense of humor, intelligence and the loving ways she touched others, including by donating her organs. She was a proud staff member of Medtronic’s Cardiac Ablation Solutions Regulatory Team. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers. Donations will benefit the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MOCA, https://mnovarian.org/), an organization Erin supported since her sister passed from the disease.
