Elizabeth "Betty" Ryan Obituary

Ryan, Elizabeth Anne “Betty” (nee O’Keefe)

Betty, 99, was born in St. Paul on June 20, 1926. She earned her angel wings on September 28, 2025. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Leona (Nash) and Timothy O’Keefe; her husband of 46 years, William, daughter, Kathleen Arroyave, son, Terrence, and son-in-law Ronald Warness. She is survived by 10 children: William (Judy), Sheila Warness, Beth, Timothy (Becky), Thomas (Kim), Patrick (Michaela), John (Maria Teresa), Michael, Joseph (Dianne) and Daniel (Colleen) and son-in-law Danilo Arroyave. Betty is also survived by 38 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 66 nieces and nephews.

Betty graduated from St. Catherine’s College with a BS in Nursing. While raising her family she worked for 20 years at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the maternity ward. She never met a baby she didn’t love.

After retirement Betty worked at Wells Fargo where she made many new friends. Her volunteer life blossomed then too. Betty was a member of St. Mark’s Council of Catholic Women. She served as its treasurer for several years and loved working at the rummage sales. Betty belonged to knitting groups, making prayer shawls and baby blankets. Well into her 80s, Betty delivered Communion to the elderly and homebound.

Betty loved to entertain family and friends. She always wanted to be sure that everyone had a good time. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and 500.

Special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at the Gardens, and Beyond Hospice, both affiliated with the Episcopal Church Home. We are forever grateful for your support of Mom during her final months.
