Elizabeth Streeper Obituary

Elizabeth Blackett Streeper passed away peacefully on March 6th, 2024 at the age of 81.  Elizabeth grew up in Midvale, Utah, graduated from Jordan High School and the University of Utah.  Like her mother before her and her daughter after, she taught school for 7 years in SLC and in Denver before meeting her soulmate, Richard D. Streeper.  They were married for 56 years and have one beloved daughter, Ann.

A volunteer at heart, Elizabeth served numerous organizations.  She firmly believed in the power of giving back. Elizabeth was a devoted mother who never missed an opportunity to attend one of Ann’s many activities or events.  She was an avid Girl Scout leader (even a T-Ball Coach!) As a young girl, Elizabeth loved riding on her father’s 4th of July floats in Midvale and riding horses at her uncles trading post in New Mexico.  She supported Richard in their many moves, always establishing their home and creating a warm environment.  Elizabeth was active in the political process.  She served many roles.  While she was a Republican delegate to the Minnesota State Convention numerous times, in her later years her passion shifted dramatically to the Democratic Party.  As she told everyone: Go Hilary!

Elizabeth and Richard traveled the world together and Elizabeth, a profound chocoholic, could tell you where to find the best chocolate bar in just about any city worldwide.  She is loved by many for her openness and kind heart.

Elizabeth’s life was altered by disease of Alzheimer’s. It was not easy, but she was able to maintain warmth and an easy smile over the last 12 years.  She has left us, but she is now at peace and surrounded by those that love her.  She is our sunshine.

She is preceded in death by her father, Marx Cazier Blackett, mother Phyllis Larson Blackett and now her sister, Ann Blackett Harris, who passed away a week after Elizabeth. She is survived by her husband Richard, daughter Ann, brothers- in- law Kenneth and Scott and 4 nieces and nephews and their children.  At her request there will not be a service.  In lieu of flowers or donations, Richard and Ann request instead, you volunteer some of your time to someone living in elder care.  Sit with them, listen to their stories, monitor their care. Or simply hold their hand.
