Age 95, longtime resident of Saint Paul, passed away peacefully on Easter morning. She was proud of her long career as a Physical Therapist and has a scholarship fund set up in her name at the U of MN. After retirement, she visited a number of countries with Health Volunteers Overseas. She often told family or others interested in her service, “You are never too old to try something new.” Her favorite hobbies were sewing, gardening, and knitting. Eleanor, known for the many quilts she made, loved to sew and teach sewing as a volunteer to teenagers and immigrant women. After supplying her family members, her quilts went to American Red Cross for Disaster relief, to the Cradle of the Forest Lake Catholic Church, and to the Dorothy Day Center. In addition to quilts, Eleanor organized the women of her retirement home to make Comfort Pillows for children in a local hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a world traveler and brought her children on yearly adventures across the USA. She loved music and sing-alongs. She was a tireless volunteer and will be dearly missed by her five children, Pat (Candace), Teresa McCormick, Kathy (Ric) Bergquist, Mary (Al) Hertaus, Judy (Todd) Johnson; sister-in-law, Lorraine (John) McManmon; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Eleanor was preceded in death by parents, John T. and Hermina Reber McManmon; sisters, Helen (Steve) Kuenster, Marguerite, Sister Lenore CSJ, Catherine (Jim) Anderson; brother, John; nephews, Jack McManmon, John Kuenster, and Dan Anderson; and niece, Mary Jo Kuenster. Eleanor left a beautiful legacy. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, April 9 at Lumen Christi Catholic Church and live streamed here. A video will be available also. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at Como Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
