Eileen Gordon of Woodbury, age 87 died December 24. Her parents were Frank X. Raidl and
Josephine (Callewaert) of Chicago. She was also preceded in death by brother Frank of Elkhorn
WI.
She leaves behind her sister Marian Van Nierop (Emmanuel, deceased) of Evanston IL, brother
Norman (Helene, deceased) of Chicago, sister-in-law, Jeanie Raidl, as well as many cousins,
nieces and nephews.
Eileen was born and raised in Chicago, attended St. Patrick Academy in Des Plaines IL and
graduated from the College of St. Catherine in 1960 and the U of MN Hospitals as a registered
dietitian.
Beloved wife of Edward John Gordon (Ned) for 64 years, they were married at St. Mary of the
Woods Church, Chicago on July 15, 1961. Mother of Edward J. (Sarah) of Auburn NH,
Josephine Gilpatrick (Richard) of Riverton WY, Stephen (Stephen Mätt) of Bend OR, Mary
Eileen Kellogg (Jeffrey) of Salt Lake City UT, and Julia Sweeney (Joseph) of Minneapolis. Her
grandchildren are Genevieve and William Gordon, and Zachary Kellogg and bonus
grandchildren Jan (Chris) Vokal and Tyler (Tennyson) Gilpatrick, and four great grandchildren.
She lived her life for her family with grace and love. She made good friends everywhere that
was home.
In each of the cities she called home she volunteered for many schools and community
organizations. Her spirit of generosity and kindness will be remembered.
A celebration of her life will be held at O’Halloran & Murphy funeral home in Woodbury at a
later date, and a private family burial at Resurrection Cemetery will be held at a later date.
