Passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023

Passed away peacefully with his family at his side the morning of March 22, 2023. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Joanne; parents Eldon and Irene; brother Roger. Survived by brother Harvey (Becky Selgelid); sister Dianne (Loren) Kruse; brother Loren (Donna), sister Debra (Ron) Olsen, children Susan (Bob) Miller, Karen (Rob) Kugler, Steve (Jill) Oberg;

grandchildren Andy Stein (Shannon Blakely), Jeff (Kathleen) Stein, Logan Kugler (Amber Dorneman), Taylor Kugler; great-grandchildren Hendrix, Kennedy & Elin.

Dwayne was a 1955 graduate of Rosemount High School. After high school, he spent time in the Air Force Reserves and started his long career in the lumber industry. Dwayne worked for Shaw-Stewart Lumber Co. for 48 years and was an active member of the St. Paul community.  He participated in many organizations, including the Twin Cities Builders Exchange, of which he served as president. Though of Swedish and German descent, Dwayne was also a long-time devoted member of the Norske Torske Klubben.

Dwayne was an avid fisherman, known as “the Peddler” among fishing friends on Cass Lake, and also enjoyed bowling and horseshoes, regularly throwing strikes and ringers. Most importantly, Dwayne loved spending time with family, watching sporting events, and sitting quietly enjoying nature. He had a strong Christian faith and is now peacefully in the arms of the Lord. Funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 1575 Charlton St., West St. Paul. Visitation prior to service, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a light lunch and internment at Acacia Park Cemetery.  Service will stream live online at www.Facebook.com/sslcwsp/live beginning at 11:25 a.m. Funeral arrangements by O’Halloran & Murphy. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.
