Douglas Allen Schaber, 76, of Burnsville, MN, passed away peacefully at Episcopal Church Home on January 7, 2026 after a short illness. Doug was born in St. Paul on March 13, 1949.
Doug graduated from Central Highschool in St. Paul and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota. He worked for Lockheed Martin for over thirty years and enjoyed weekly coffee meetups with longtime colleagues and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents Irvin & Helen Schaber, and his loving wife Jo Anne Schaber. Doug is survived by his children, Sonia (Scott) Egge, Nicole Simmons, and Samuel (Fontaine) Schaber; grandchildren, Matthew Simmons, Gabrielle Schaeffer, and Everett Ho-Schaber; siblings, Sandra Huberty, Phil Schaber, and Steve (Kathy) Schaber; as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
Doug lived as a devoted husband, a proud father, a loyal brother and loving grandfather. He cherished spending time with family, recounting old memories, spoiling his grandchildren, and caring for his salt water aquarium. We will miss his wit, generous spirit, and love.
A special thank you to the staff at Episcopal Church Home and Allina Hospice for their compassionate care.
Memorial will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 700 Snelling Ave S, St. Paul, MN 55116 on Wednesday, January 21. Visitation at 10:00 AM, service at 11:00 AM with luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to donor’s choice.
