Donald Eugene Nygaard

With heavy hearts we share Don’s passing away on July 18, 2025, after struggling with esophageal cancer. Survived by his wife Georgia; sons Jeffrey (Chanita) and Jim; four grandchildren, Martheya, Malena, Jeremy and Joel plus twin great grand daughters, Dorothy and Catherine. Don graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a registered professional Civil Engineer and served as City Engineer and Public Works Director in St. Paul, MN for several years. He was an officer in the US Army Reserve for eight years. He enjoyed the challenge of long distance running and ran Boston Marathons beginning in 1972 at 36 years of age. Another hobby was reading about history and leadership personalities.

Memorial service will be held at Roseville Lutheran Church, (1215 W. Roselawn Ave. Roseville) on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 11:00 am with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Luncheon to follow. Internment at Oneota Cemetery, Duluth, MN . Memorials preferred to Roseville Lutheran Church.
