Donald Francis Miller, 95, formerly of St. Paul, MN, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025. Born on March 27, 1930, on a farm near Madison, MN, Don learned the value of hard work early in life from his parents, Mike and Mary Miller.
After high school, Don joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea and Hawaii. Upon returning home, he met Maureen, the love of his life, and they shared a devoted 60-year marriage. They settled in St. Paul, where they raised four children.
Following technical college, Don began a long and successful career at 3M, working for 33 years as an engineer and product development manager. His practical problem-solving skills and mechanical talents—honed on the farm—played a major role in his professional achievements.
Don had a lifelong passion for fixing and building things, whether it was repairing engines, remodeling his home, crafting cabinets, or wood carving. He also loved tennis, golf, fishing, hunting, traveling, and time spent with family and friends.
Known for his kindness, fairness, and quiet humor, Don lived with integrity and generosity. He deeply loved his family and cherished his life with Maureen.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Maureen (Griffin) Miller; parents, Mike and Mary (Kemen) Miller; siblings and in-laws Virginia and Matt Heinzen, Art and Betty Miller, and Adele Miller; siblings-in-law Pat Lee, Peggy Griffin, and Betty Griffin; and his grandson, Ben Mueller. He is survived by his brother, Charles Miller of Madison; sisters Ruth Lee of Chicago, Kathy (Bob) Wedl and Mary Ellen (Rick) Arneson, both of Minneapolis; his children Ellen (Jeff) Mueller of Mendota Heights, Paul (Connie) Miller of Vadnais Heights, Matt (Beth McNally) Miller of Stillwater, and Peter (Ann) Miller of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Bob (Jordyn), Eric, Moira, Mary, Katy, Jake, Jack, Sam, and Caroline; great-grandson Tate; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 16th, at 11 am, with a visitation at 10 am, at the Church of St. Peter, 1405 Sibley Memorial Highway, Mendota. A luncheon will be served following the Mass. The Burial will be privately held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Maureen or the charity of your choice.
