Diane Donahue Obituary

Diane Rose (Reed) Donahue passed away January 9, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 68 surrounded by her closest family.  Diane was born in Saint Paul, MN on November 13, 1953 and grew up in Roseville, MN as the oldest of 7 children.  Through a blind date, Diane met the love her life Timothy Donahue in 1977.  They spent 44 wonderful years together living in St. Paul, MN, DeKalb, IL and finally Oakdale, MN where they had been for the last 21 years.

Diane had a long and successful career with 3M and retired in 2015. She joined 3M as technician on 3rd shift and over the course of her 30+ years of service, she received several promotion opportunities. Her last position, as International Supply Chain Analyst, took her to many exciting places around the globe.

In her younger years, Diane loved playing weekly Bingo with her mom and sister.  She took enormous pleasure in watching her grandson’s football games online and baking cookies with her granddaughter. Diane was also an amazing hostess of Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations and other events for many years.  She always had an overflowing table of incredible food that kept everyone gathered in the kitchen.  Her holiday spirit also shone through with astonishing decoration displays – especially at Halloween and Christmas.  The kind that make the trick-or-treat kids stop and stare and cars drive by extra slow just to take it all in.  She was also known for her stunning Christmas tree that had every ornament in just the right place and tinsel hung one piece at a time.  She had an easy laugh and a big heart and was always looking for ways to make those around her happy and comfortable.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Rose Reed; her brothers, Thomas Reed, and Michael Reed; and her grandchild, Caleb Timothy Thomas.  She is survived by her husband, Timothy; son, David (April); grandchildren, Evan and Brooke; brothers, Scott Reed (Patti), and James Reed (Carrie); sisters, Sue Thorson (Pat), and Wendy Honeck (Dan); and innumerable nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday January 22nd, 3:00 PM with gathering of family and friends 1:00-3:00 PM, all at Roseville Memorial Chapel, 2245 Hamline Ave. N, Roseville MN.
