Denine (Hughes) Goode

Denine Goode passed away at her home in Naples, FL on May 22, 2023, at the age of 62 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Clifford & Donna Hughes. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Stephanie Goode and Jennifer Boyle (Brian); her three grandchildren, Connor, Nora and Claire; her former husband, Frank Goode; and brother, Don Hughes.

Denine was born in Calgary on May 21, 1961. She grew up in Calgary, attended school, created a thriving hairdressing career, and had both her daughters here. She took special pride in being a Canadian, and specifically a “Calgarian.” As an avid storyteller, she had many colorful stories of her early years growing up in NW Calgary.

In 1988 Denine and her family moved from Calgary to Indiana as the first move that began their “Midwest tour” and eventually landed in the Twin Cities where her children grew up and both settled. Whether in Indiana, Ontario, Iowa or Minnesota, Denine made friends everywhere she went. It was one of her many hallmarks. Anyone who knew Denine knew of her kindness and how she wanted to help anyone she could. She could be seen around town passing out money to those in need, taking struggling families to the grocery store to ensure their children had food to eat or providing a warm place during a storm. Her compassion and generosity knew no bounds.

Denine loved her family. If in conversation with her, the one thing you can always count on was Denine talking about her daughters and grandchildren. She was very proud of them and had a love for them that could never be questioned. They were the thing she was most proud of in life.

Denine would later move to Naples on her recovery journey. She spoke fondly of the friendships she made and expressed joy her family had not seen for some time. It was a very good period in her life which brought great gratitude to both she and her family. Though she lost her battle to substance-use disorder, it can never be questioned that she was a fighter. She will be remembered by friends and acquaintances as a determined and energetic woman with an infectious laugh.

A gathering will be held on Saturday, June 24th at O’Halloran and Murphy-Woodbury Funeral Home (8700 Valley Creek Rd, Woodbury, MN) from 12-3pm.
