Delores Blaeser Obituary

Delores JoAnn Blaeser

Age 86 September 10, 1937 – January 26, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Preceded in death by husband, Paul B. Blaeser; parents, Hardy and Berdelle Wallaker; sister, Beverly Nesseth. Del was married to Paul for almost 60 years before his passing in 2018. She is survived by four children: Timothy (Derotha), Patrice (James Butenhoff), Bret (Kimberlee) and Thomas (Deborah); 12 grandchildren, along with their spouses and five great-grandchildren; brother, Harris Wallaker; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Del was born in Kenyon, Minnesota, growing up in rural Wanamingo, Minnesota on her parents' farm. She graduated from the University of Minnesota. Del made West Saint Paul, Minnesota, her home after marrying Paul in 1958, where they lived for over 40 years until retiring.  They then began splitting their time between Birchwood, Wisconsin (Red Cedar Lake) in the summer and Naples, Florida in the Winter. More recently, Del moved back to the Twin Cities to be closer to family and spent the last two years in Eagan in the Viking Village Apartments, until four months ago when she moved to her son and daughter-in-law’s home in Mendota Heights as her illness progressed. Del was a teacher at St. Paul Technical College for 25+ years and also co-owner (along with her husband Paul) of Paul’s Magic Mirror salons in Highland Park and West Saint Paul. Del loved watching golf and the Vikings and was a loyal and enthusiastic life-long Viking fan. She also loved playing cards, golfing, entertaining, cooking, reading, and quilting.

She gifted many friends and family with beautiful quilts. If you were blessed to receive a quilt from Del, we would love for you to bring your quilt to her funeral and cover the pews in church so that her handiwork can be on display.

Del’s greatest joy was time spent with her family and friends. She was a wonderful friend, spouse, mother, grandmother and most recently “GG” having been blessed with five great-grandchildren in two years’ time. She will be dearly missed by all that were blessed to know her. Memorials to Our Lady of Peace Hospice Home preferred in lieu of flowers. Service: Friday, February 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation for 90 minutes before Mass.
