The family of David Ebner are deeply saddened to announce his passing on November 9, 2025, due to severe heart complications while waiting for a heart transplant. Preceded in death by father (Jack), grandparents (Bob & Lois). David was beloved by his wife Elena, whom he adored, and his sweet little dog Chucho, his mother Cynthia, older brothers and sisters’inlaws’ Christopher(Marián), Michael(Lesley) and nieces and nephews, (Cristina, Miguel, Franklin, Veronica, Charlotte, Diego, Maria, Isabella, Saori, Angelo and Fabrizio).
Born in St. Paul, MN, David attended Groveland Elementary, Cretin-Derham Hall and the University of Minnesota.
David was a very determined individual; when he set his mind to something he achieved it. In college he became fluent in Spanish overnight, all without having spent much time in a Spanish speaking country. Music was incredibly important to him, and he was gifted at it; as a child he could hear a tune and play it on the piano. He taught himself how to play guitar and composed songs. Over the last thirty years he played music around the Twin Cities, both as a solo act and with various bands, most recently with his band Yeah, Yeah, Fine.
David and Elena embodied a love story. In 2003 long before online dating was commonplace, David met Elena over the internet. After two years and trips to Peru, they became engaged and were married at the family cabin on Gull Lake and a reception at Grandview Lodge. David and Elena loved spending summers at the lake with Chucho; on the pontoon and playing rummikub.
The family wants to thank all the Cardio ICU doctors and nurses at the University of Minnesota Hospital, the Mayo Clinic for their devoted and gentle care.
