David A Brueggemann

Age 79 of Saint Paul Passed away June 27, 2026.  David grew up in the West 7th neighborhood of St. Paul often enjoying countless adventures down at Crosby.  David was a proud graduate of St. Francis de Sales grade school, Cretin high school, The University of St. Thomas, and William Mitchell School of law.  He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend who made everyone feel special with a unique story or memory.  David became a teacher after college before transitioning to working in radio and sales.  He was a lifelong learner with an incredible work ethic demonstrated by attending William Mitchell while working full time and raising a family.  He found his passion as an Attorney Editor at West Publishing and solo-practice after working as an attorney at a couple of law firms.  As a musician and St. Paul lifer – it was only fitting David met his wife Denise singing songs blocks away from where he grew up.  David had endless hobbies and interests including reading, history, daily brain games, following the Minnesota Twins, and music.  He was most proud of his family who were often found at the pool he meticulously maintained.  You may have heard his booming voice while supporting and attending most every one of his three granddaughters’ plays, concerts, and sporting events. 

David is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Marianne.  Survived by his wife, Denise Brueggemann; sons, Eric (Sacha) and Dan (Serina); grandchildren, Sophia, Lillian, and Laurel; brothers, Gary (Jackie), Paul (Judy); sister, Lynn & sister-in-laws Angela (Dan), Debbie (Richie), and Jamie (Walt); former wife, Lori Glynn; many nieces, nephews and their families.  Though he is no longer with us, David leaves behind countless memories and stories that will continue to make anyone who knew him smile and laugh. 

Visitation: Tuesday, July 7th, 5-7PM at O’Halloran & Murphy (575 Snelling Ave. S, St. Paul). Memorial Service: Wednesday, July 8th, 11AM at O’Halloran & Murphy.  In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Friends of the St. Paul Public Library is preferred.
