Daniel M. Krom
Age 68 of Woodbury, MN
Daniel Mark Krom was born May 21, 1957, to Robert and Beverly (Meins) Krom in Wichita, KS. The family moved to Sioux City, IA where he graduated from East High in 1975. After high school he attended Ellsworth Community College, where he met his wife Dawn and was married in September 1978. They moved to Mankato, MN where he received his Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Studies from Mankato State University. He then accepted a position with the City of Moorhead, MN to manage the city bus system. A year later, Dan accepted a position with MNDOT in St. Paul, MN, where he worked in various capacities such as managing bus systems in southern Minnesota, worked in the department of Freight and Waterways, provided government relations to state legislators, traveling often to Washington D.C. to help secure funding for many transportation projects in the state. As director of the Passenger Rail Program, his final project prior to his retirement in 2023 was working with state officials and AmTrack to bring the Borealis to fruition.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marsha. He is survived by his wife Dawn of Woodbury, MN, brothers Paul Krom (Edie) of Pittsburg, PA and Tim Krom of Dubuque, IA, three nieces, one nephew and one great niece, and many friends. A celebration of Dan to be held at a later date.
