Carol Jean Young Rasmusson
Born December 8, 1930 in Ephraim Utah and died January 28, 2025 in Coon Rapids, Minnesota from complications of influenza.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C Rasmusson, of 74 years, and her parents Floyd R & Zelda LaRue Snow Young. Carol grew up in Ephraim, Utah where she went to Ephraim High School then completed 2 years at Snow Jr. College. Carol added that she had an additional 55+ years with the “School of Experience”.
Carol is survived by a large and loving family, including 5 children: Patricia Hafner (Jim), Brad Rasmusson (Kismet), Jean Arbuckle (Jim), Jan Bootsma (Robert), and Lora Schwartz ( Mike). Carol had 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and just recently she became a great-great grandmother. Carol is also survived by her sisters Betsy Weight and Marcia Barber.
Carol had a long and full life, starting work as a teen in a drugstore, then at a variety store. She was married to Donald in 1950 in the Manti Utah Temple, then started their family as they moved to Logan, Utah, then to Davis, California for Donald’s education. They settled in St. Paul, Minnesota when Donald started his career at the University of Minnesota, where they lived the rest of their lives to raise their children.
Carol, Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandmother will be remembered for her strong dedication to her family, supporting each wholeheartedly and with a love that was felt so completely by all. She has always been a deeply spiritual person as a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Over the years she served in so many roles; from teaching Sunday School classes to Relief Society President, then with genealogical extraction.
Carol was an amazing quilter, who made personalized marriage and baby quits for the whole family and made more for so many others. Carol took up racquetball with her best friend Shirley in her 60’s and was an avid golfer with a beautiful swing. She picked up and found joy in playing the organ at the age of 67 after having had piano lessons as a young teen.
Mom’s kids created a ‘dittie” in her honor:
While your time has just now come
Your impact will be felt by so many, more than some.
We will miss you so much
And will never forget your tickling touch.
You could pinch a penny until it squealed
Even though you were so well-heeled.
Be at peace, dear Mom
You have been, and always will be, the total bomb!
