Bonnie Kay Sentz was born on October 25th, 1942 at St. Lukes Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota to Macel and Henry Syverson. She died peacefully on May 18th, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.
Bonnie grew up in Moorhead, MN with her parents and younger brother, John. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1960. She was active in choir, glee club, and cheerleading. On August 25th, 1961, after a year of college at Moorhead State University, she married her high school sweetheart, Lyle Sentz. They raised 2 children, Rob and Karen, in Anoka, MN. When Karen started kindergarten, Bonnie went back to college at Anoka Ramsey Community College and earned her RN degree. She worked for many years at Mercy Hospital in the ICU and ER. She finished her nursing career with Metro Cardiology.
In retirement, she continued traveling with her friend Andrea. They traveled together yearly for 17 years and visited Portugal, Spain, France, Ireland, Turkey, Italy, Greece, India, Egypt, Israel, Cambodia, Thailand, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Vietnam. Bonnie also enjoyed volunteer work at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Macel and Henry Syverson, and her ex-husband, Lyle. She is survived by her son Robert, his wife Kari, their son Ryan, and their daughter Allison and her husband Andrew; her daughter Karen and her husband Todd and their children Gemma and Rowan; and her brother John Syverson and his wife Lynn.

The Service to celebrate Bonnie’s life will be on Friday, June 27th at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis, MN–88 North 17th St. Minneapolis, MN 55403. Visitation begins at 11:00 am followed by her service at noon and lunch at the Basilica at 1:00. Please visit mary.org for details and parking.
