Betty J. Cook

Betty J. Cook of St. Paul, Age 93. Born on March 10, 1932, died on August 21, 2025. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert W. Cook, Sr. and Irene G. Cook (nee Moreau). Also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Edith (Cook) Kaiser and brother Herbert W. Cook, Jr. Survived by brother, Roger L. Cook (Janette), 16 nieces and nephews, numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews and many friends.

Betty attended St. Joseph’s Academy and was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of St. Catherine’s College/University. She received her M.A. from Catholic University of America in 1963.

Betty spent 16 years as a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet as both a teacher and administrator.

Beginning in 1972 Betty worked in a variety of government positions both overseas and domestically; teaching in California (Travis AFB) and Germany (Ramstein AFB) and in the Washington D.C. area (Department of Health and Human Services).

After retirement Betty returned to St. Paul in 1993. She continued volunteering at various organizations including English as a Second Language (ESL). She loved world travel and was an avid reader.

Betty lived at Carondolet Village since 2016 and loved to attend the community sing-a-long “Sip and Sing”.

Visitation will be held at St. Odilia Catholic Church, 3495 Victoria Street North, Shoreview on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 10-11 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 AM. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights.

Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers. Memorials preferred for the benefit of Carondelet Village and the University of St. Catherine.
