Hello…Babs here……I am in heaven with Eddy!
To all my dear friends, clients and co-workers who are my family here in Minnesota, thank you for your love, support and caring.
Thanks to my sister from another mister, sweet Dana. My peep, Chris, I made it through because of your friendship and love. ❤️ Traci, Ron and Jess, you came into my life when I needed you. I can’t thank you enough. My boulder, Jane, love you. Your family adopted Eddy and me when we got here. You have made me so happy. Remember, everyone, to keep on keeping on. See you all in heaven. We can relive our crazy lives. Bye for now. Babs signing out.
Barbara Catherine Komac, known to most as “Babs”, was diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumor and passed away peacefully 16 months later on October 1, 2021. Babs was born to Robert and Eleanore (Lias) Natola alongside her twin sister, Roberta, on October 23, 1946, in Amsterdam NY. After graduating from Fonda Fultonville High School in 1964, she attained her beautician's license and married the love of her life, Edward Komac, Jr. in June 1973. Ed’s career with the military took them around the world. Ed retired from the Army in the late 80’s as a Sergeant Major, and his post-military career landed them in St. Paul, Minnesota. Although they often threatened to leave Minnesota, they found their home and family there. Babs found happiness in her career of over 20 years as a hairdresser at Regis and Salon 27 where she acquired many loyal clients and close friends.
Babs lit up a room like no other. With a collection of bracelets on her wrists, big hats, an even bigger smile and her bright sense of style, you could see and hear her a mile away. Babs never tiptoed, she was loud, loving and loved. She was fearless, inspiringly independent, and had an unabashed ability to speak her mind. Never turning down an adventure, she enjoyed skydiving, traveling, ice cream and shopping, always returning home with gifts for loved ones and a beautiful new scarf.
She was welcomed in heaven by her husband, parents and sister. She leaves behind a stepson, Edward Komac III (wife, Lin, and daughter, Kate); nephew, Christopher Bailey; nieces, Rachel Bailey, and Cassandra Blake; great-nephews and great-niece, Grayden Mickel and Ruby and Jupiter Blake, as well as a legacy of many, many friends across the country and across continents.
Babs requested that her Celebration of Life be as bright and bold as she was, with a Hawaiian theme. Babs asked that those attending come with a smile and dressed in bright colors. A Celebration of Life is will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 20, at the Roseville Memorial Chapel, 2245 Hamline Ave. N., with visitation one hour prior. Service can be viewed and downloaded from the link below until Nov. 24, 2021.
