Anthony "Tony" Anderson, 71, of Mendota Heights, Minnesota, passed away on January 29, 2026 at Our Lady of Peace Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.
Born September 5, 1954, in Saint Paul. Tony grew up in Roseville, MN and later raised his family there in the home he and Mary built. Known for his warm spirit and magnetic personality, Tony had a remarkable ability to connect with people. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and make them feel instantly at ease. His genuine love for others left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
Aside from his successful career in sales and later as a devoted special education teacher, he also spent many years officiating high school and collegiate sports, always trying to make sure that the game was played right and that the kids were learning the important lessons of life.
Tony lived life by "The Five Fs" — Faith, Family, Friends, Food, and Fun (in that order). Above all else, Tony’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband to Mary for 42 years, a proud and loving father to Joe and Sam, and a cherished Papa to his granddaughters, Lena and Eve. His presence was a guiding light—steadfast, wise, and full of heart. He instilled values that shaped those around him into better people. His family feels deeply blessed to have shared their lives with him, and only wishes they had more time together.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Richard Anderson, as well as his sister Judith.
He is survived by his wife Mary, sons Joe (Jenn) and Sam (Sarah), granddaughters Lena and Eve, four siblings Rick, Bill, Bob, and Chrissy, as well as his adopted Salmen siblings, who loved him like a brother, and many beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
