Ann Giebler Schmidt age 89 of New Brighton MN , passed away peacefully on July 2, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born on Dec 12, 1931 to Marie and Aloyious Mindrup in Norton, KS. and was raised on a farm in New Almelo, KS. She graduated nurses’ training from St. Francis School of Nursing in Witchita, KS in 1953 and then married Herbert Giebler on November 25, 1954. They lived in Kansas and Minnesota where they raised 4 children. She was an exceptional nurse, working in a variety of settings including hospitals with polio patients in iron lungs, clinics, and as a head nurse working in a memory care unit at Presbyterian Homes. Ann and Herb were married from 1954 until Herb passed away in 1982. She carried on with life, trying new adventures on her own until remarrying on September 4, 1993 to a wonderful man, Roger Schmidt, for 27 years. She was a wonderful, loving, generous sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great grandma who was always baking wonderful things for her family and friends to enjoy. She was known for her wonderful needle work, making many quilts for her family. She loved her Twins and Vikings, watching them faithfully, no matter the outcome. She is survived by sister Jeanette Weishaar, daughters, Mary Ruhland (Jerry), Michelle Lynch (Tom), Marlene Hoffman (Mark)and son, Mark Giebler (Jin), grandchildren, Andrew Ruhland(Megan) and Myra, Nathan (Erin), Elouise and Henry, Patrick Ruhland (Tanya Betelak), Shannon Mulhern (Andrew) Jackson and Summer, Meghan (Cheng) Cheng, Breahan (Zeb) Hovde, Eastan Giebler, Lucas Giebler and Natalie Hoffman, along with Roger’s children, spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A mass of Christian burial will take place at St Odilia Catholic church in Shoreview, MN. on July 9th at 11:00 am with visitation from 10-11:00 beforehand. Interment Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Open Arms of MN.
