My dad taught me to have confidence in all things, to talk to strangers in line in the checkout stands, to advocate for what I deserve (and maybe even things I don’t). Because he empowered those things in me, he also taught me to be a better parent.
He adored his grandkids beyond words. Whether it was blasting rap music with Chase on an ice cream run or offering Abby advice on friends and boys, they were his joy.
My dad collected friends wherever he went, and loved to tell stories about his time serving our country during the Berlin Crisis, stories about his pool clients or stories about his grandkids. My dad was never short on stories.
Alan Kelly Rattan is survived by my mom, Lawrie Ann; his big sis Carole Munsell; his first grandchild, Chase Richard Callister; and me.
Thank you, Daddy, for being my biggest cheerleader and for believing in me, always. I love you forever, Amy Callister.
