Micah Pennington Obituary

MICAH’S REMARKABLE STORY

Micah’s journey began on March 20, 1997 in Nairobi, Kenya. He grew up hearing his nicknames Baby NumNums, Wafula and Saningo. He went to bed every night with a kiss on the head and a reminder of Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” He lived in Kenya, Ethiopia and the United States. He wanted those around him to also experience the treasure of traveling abroad, even if it meant simply taking them across the border into Canada. Micah enjoyed laughing, playing the guitar & saxophone, catching the occasional fish, playing rugby & video games, going camping and trying his hand at woodworking. He loved to eat Ethiopian food, chapatis, steak, tater tot hot dish, biscuits & gravy and just about any other kind of food... in quantity. Micah loved worshiping Jesus with the sweet folks at Real Life Church and the student body of North Central University (NCU). Micah was fulfilling his calling by serving on the Youth Leadership Team at Real Life Church, and felt a call to missions. He received his BA from NCU this week. Family and friends remember Micah for the way he valued people, his optimism, kindness, hugs, adventurous spirit, huge smile and especially his deep love for Jesus. He lived by his life verse, Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, and not for man.”

Micah went to be with Jesus on January 11, 2020, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His life will be cherished by many friends around the world and his loving family, including his parents, Steve & Trina Pennington (Africa); his siblings, Josiah & Liz Pennington (Missouri), and Priscilla & Reed Burr (Florida); his grandparents, John & Joyce Roberts (Oregon), and Fran Glessner (California)

A Celebration of Micah's Life will be held 10am Saturday, January 18 at North Central University, 910 Elliot Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55404.
