Sandra Kay Malarkey |
Went home to the Lord after a courageous battle with complications from lupus. Preceded in death by parents, Marie Pat and Dale Mortimer, and by oldest son, Mark E. Malarkey. Survived by loving husband of 45 years, Dennis Malarkey; sons, Bob Malarkey, Jamie Malarkey; daughters, Dawn Buchal (Jim), Barb Barry (Dave); sister, Bev Lecy (Arfield); brother, Jim Mortimer (Ramona) and 19 grandchildren. Sandy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, caregiver, hostess, cheerleader, and friend who was consistently compassionate, kind, patient, generous and had a wonderful sense of humor. Her persona was a unifying and encouraging force and her ability to make people laugh created a relaxing and fun environment for everyone around her. As a hostess, she was welcoming of everyone and always made sure all in attendance had sustenance before herself. As a big softball and hockey fan, she was never just a spectator, but was an active and enthusiastic cheerleader who could consistently motivate the fans and her favorite teams. Her sense of humor was constantly on display with family, friends, strangers, and even the healthcare professionals who treated her, as she would put them at ease by telling a joke and making everyone laugh. Her generosity manifested itself with extra purchases for the food bank during every grocery trip, currency into every Salvation Army bucket, support for many charities, and willing and faithful volunteerism. A positive role model for her children and grandchildren; she was also a wonderful wife and life partner to husband and best friend, Dennis. Her profound love for family, friends, and all mankind will be missed by all! A celebration of her life will be held at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 1660 West County Road B, Roseville, MN on Thursday, June 16. Visitation 12:30 PM, Service 1:30 PM, Social 2:15 PM with sweets, beverages, and voluntary eulogies from attendees. Please bring your memories to share! In lieu of flowers, memorial to the Lupus Foundation preferred. 651-631-2727
