Age 69 of Roseville passed suddenly on 5/16/12 as the result of a massive heart attack. Served in the United States Army and was a Forty-four year member of the Twin Cities Brick Layers Union and retiree of Mortenson Construction. Bern helped build many significant structures in the area but his greatest building accomplishment is clearly the legacy that he built. Bern loved to hunt and fish and was always ready to take "His Boys" on a trip. His greatest joy, however, came in serving both his church and his family. The most selfless and giving man that we have known showed us what being a true person of integrity is about: he lived his faith.
Preceded in death by parents Bernard and Marion (Gillen) and sister Mary Lou. Survived by the love of his life and bride of 48 years, Mary K. (Traen); son Aric (Keri), and daughter Kasia (Mark) Kingsriter; grandchildren Ben, Tom, Joe and Sam Kingsriter and Raef Roeller; sisters Jo (John) Chermak and Sue (Bob) Lange; many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Our hearts rejoice knowing Dad is in the presence of our Lord and at the same time we are crushed by this loss. But what a legacy he has left.
